Casa do Parque is a hotel on Avenida da Aramenha, on the leafier edge of town — the largest of the three houses, with hotel comfort, room for a birding party, and one feature no other house here can match. (Public listings suggest around 25 rooms / 48 beds — to confirm.)
The terrace
On the third floor is a covered, almost 360° panoramic terrace, its full-width walls made of frameless glass screens that slide right open. It is, in effect, a private hide in the sky: an elevated sweep over the town's rooftops and belltowers to the wooded slopes and crags of the Serra de São Mamede. Watch White Storks on the roofs and swifts and martins wheeling at eye level, and scan the distant ridges for Griffon Vulture, Bonelli's Eagle and Short-toed Eagle riding the morning air.
Glassed in, it's comfortable in any weather and any season; thrown open, it's an unobstructed platform for the scope or the camera. Best of all, it's where you take your first coffee and read the day's raptor movement over the sierra before you decide where to go.
The rest
Size, too: a tour or a family group fits under one roof. Its green-edge position puts the gentle doorstep birding right outside — the gardens and tree-lined avenue are good for Serin, Iberian Azure-winged Magpie, Hoopoe and Blackcap. And it already draws the Dutch, Scandinavian and Spanish guests who are exactly the birding markets this site speaks to.
